The top card was postmarked Aug 28, 1950, the first year the girls moved in. The sender wrote, “It hardly seems possible. I’m really at the State Fair, but now that we’re all set in our new building, one realizes it’s happened. In spite of the rain yesterday, lots of people were here. Tomorrow at 10:45 is the big demonstration. Hope we turn out okay. I met the girls from Dyersville yesterday. They are demonstrating this morning. Their bed is in the next row over from mine. We’re meeting lots of nice kids and having quite a time. See you soon.” It was signed “Mildred.” |
